WHAT'S NEW
SUNSCREEN IN WINTER  - The World Health Organisation states that up to 80% of solar UV radiation can penetrate light cloud cover. Even haze in the atmosphere doesn’t provide protection against UV radiation exposure. It’s equally important for everyone to wear sunscreen during the winter as it is during the summer. Even on cloudy days, the sun’s rays can still cause a significant amount of damage to your skin. So no matter whether you’re hurtling down a mountain skiing or cleaning up the leaves in your backyard, be sure to wear sunscreen. Family snow
NEW LAWS CONCERNING SOLARIA USAGE - In NSW, regulations are to be put in place by January 2009 banning people with very fair skin and people under the age of 18 from using solaria. Victoria and South Australia introduced regulations earlier this year and Western Australia has announced it will soon do the same. The frequency of visits would also be limited, and coin-operated sunbeds would also be banned.

AUSTRALIAN GOVERNMENT’S SKIN CANCER PREVENTION CAMPAIGN  - The Australian Government’s skin cancer prevention campaign is aimed at young people and focuses on the dangers of repeated and unprotected exposure to the sun. The 13-24 year age group is the primary target audience for the campaign because it is the group that has been least likely to use adequate protection, and has the highest frequency of sunburn.
